- Acid free
- A paper manufactured to a neutral pH reading. Primarily used for permanent records and to protect materials when contact with paper acidity would be harmful.
- Agricultural residues
- By products from the production of food and other crops that contain fibers that can be used for papermaking.
- AOX
- Reported as the total amount of chlorine bound to organic compounds in waste water.
- Archival Paper
- Acid-free paper made to resist deterioration for documents that must last and meet special specifications / standards (ISO 9706)
- Artificial regeneration
- Method for producting a new stand of trees following harvesting, in which tree seedlings are planted. Most often used in even-aged silvicultural systems.
- Ash
- Inorganic matter present in the paper sheet, such as clay or titanium dioxide.
